In the year 1957, a the sprawling plot was identified in the heart of Basavanagudi by His Holiness Dwarkanath Teerth Swamiji for constructing the present Dwarakanath Bhavan.
The purpose and the objective was to cater to the spiritual and religious needs of Gowda Saraswath Brahmins in the Southern part of Bangalore.
In the year 1982, the foundation stone of the present building was laid by His Holiness Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji.
